Charming Farnham choking on congestion.

Project reasurch;

Farnham could be treasured as a historic market town but car pollution and traffic threaten that. The constant traffic distracts from the natural charm of Farnham town centre causing noise, bad air and preventing people making a special visit to the town.

Petrol cars and trucks bring stress and risks of respiratory illnesses, asthma and lung cancer.  What can be done?  In the short term, pedestrianising the historic roads could make a charming walking zone.  Encouraging electric vehicles and creating a ULEZ zone are long-term solutions.
Inspiration sources:

Sue Coe and Darren Cullen who portray the environment. I was also inspired by the children's drawings for the national 'slow driving campaign.
Methods:

I like to use mixed media to add textural effects to natural scenes: ink pen, acrylic paint, digital. The pollution is shown as grey and gritty, 'dulling' the popular market town.
Art concept:

 To create postcards highlighting the pollution problem in Farnham. This is the opposite of holiday postcards which showcase places at their best. As such, my postcards add to the anti-pollition campaign.
I decided to print the post cards using muted colours to emphasize the pollution as well as writing street names of where the drawings are from on the back of the postcards.
